Members, partners, friends, and guests have the opportunity to enjoy a number of one-day and half-day outings during the year.
Most – the whole-day outings – are bus trips, while for local outings, members usually drive to the venue or take public transport.
In recent years, members, partners and friends have travelled to Maryborough, the Hume & Hovell Cricket Ground at Strath Creek, HMAS Cerberus, Phillip Island, Marysville and Kinglake, Walhalla, Mount Macedon, Beleura at Mornington, Daylesford, Lorne, Werribee Park, Coombe Cottage, Queenscliff and Nagambie.
In addition to the bus and train trips, members, partners and friends enjoy “local” outings, e.g, tours of the Fox Classic Car Collection, Etihad Stadium, the MCG and National Sports Museum, Melbourne Park , Victoria Barracks, the Jewish Museum and Synagogue, as well as mid-year and end-of-year luncheons, and a start-of-year barbecue.
Nagambie and Goulburn River Cruise – March 2017
A busload of members, partners and friends travelled to Nagambie, where they boarded the “Goulburn Explorer” for lunch and a two-hour cruise along the Goulburn River. They then enjoyed a wine tasting at the Tahbilk Estate and finally visited the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk in Seymour. A good time was had by all.
Coombe Cottage and Yarra Valley Chocolaterie – March 2016
45 members and partners travelled by bus to Coldstream, where they enjoyed a guided tour of the gardens at Coombe Cottage, the home of Dame Nellie Melba, and a morning Devonshire tea of fresh-baked scones, raspberry jam and cream. After Lunch at the Terminus Hotel in Healesville, the group visited the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie in Yarra Glen. A great time was had by all.
Werribee Park – April 2015
47 members and partners travelled by bus to Werribee Park, where they walked around the beautiful Victoria State Rose Garden, toured Werribee Mansion, enjoyed lunch in the Meerkat Bistro, toured the Open Range Zoo, and finally walked through the wild animal enclosures.
Stokes Collection, Mt Macedon – November 2014
Members and partners travelled by bus to Mt Macedon where they enjoyed a guided tour of the magnificent Stokes Collection. After lunch at the Mt Macedon Golf Club, the group walked around the beautiful Forest Glade Gardens.
